The festival’s website (www.northshorefilmfest.org) is a multipurpose website that is used for treatment and/or script submissions, video viewing, and contact with festival staff. The Festival runs in three stages, each of which is explained below. Each project can be a maximum of 10 minutes long (including opening and closing credits).
The 2008 North Shore Film Festival. Gala Screening will be presented on September 19th and 20th at the Capilano College Performing Arts Theatre in North Vancouver (www. www.capcollege.bc.ca/theatre). The gala screening will be followed by an awards presentation.
If a team’s production must start before May 2nd, 2008, festival staff must be notified and permission may then be granted.
STAGE 1: FESTIVAL REGISTRATION OPENS
The festival conducts its Launch Meeting at 7:00pm on Friday May 2nd, 2008 with all participating teams. Registration packages are handed out and financial registration is completed at this time. At this time, each team must also designate a team captain who will be in contact with the festival staff.
STAGE 2: SCRIPT / TREATMENT SUBMISSION DUE
Participants must submit a film summary, treatment, or script, and a cast and crew list (in person or via email to info@northshorefilmfest.org) by Friday May 16th, 2008. Treatments and scripts will be reviewed before films are accepted into the festival.
STAGE 3: SUBMISSION OF COMPLETED FILM PROJECT
Teams must submit their completed film on mini DV ONLY to the festival office by Sunday August 31st, 2008). No other film formats will be accepted; this ensures that projects will be editable for integration into the gala screening. Late film submissions are charged a late fee of $20.00 per day. The disqualification deadline is Wednesday September 3rd, 2008 at 6:00pm; films submitted after this date can not be screened at the gala due to time constraints.
The entry fee for each team is $200.00 CDN. The Secondary Student Team fee is $100.00 CDN. The entry fee should be split evenly between all team members. The entry fee is non-refundable once a script is accepted into the festival. Each team’s film budget may not exceed $700.00 CDN. This budget money may be obtained from the team’s members or from one or more corporate sponsors. Any donated materials do not count towards your team’s budget. Any corporate sponsors used must be featured in that team’s film. Teams are encouraged to use more creativity than money when making their film.
***Please note that the North Shore Film Festival does not issue tax receipts to corporate sponsors of individual teams; this is up to the team members themselves.
