The Lost Camera Program

The Lost Camera Program is a North Shore Film Festival Community Initiative for 2008. Three clearly labelled cameras will be “lost” for forty-five days throughout the North Shore community; “finders” are encouraged to take the cameras into their own lives, record two minutes of footage documenting a topic of personal importance and then “lose” the cameras again to continue the adventure. The cameras are returned to the final location on the date specified in the instructions.

The footage collected will be compiled and edited into a ten-segment background story presented at the third annual North Shore Film Festival Gala Screening at Capilano College in September 2008.

The feature will be called The Lost Stories - North Shore 2008.

Each camera is kept in a secure pelican case, clearly labelled as a “lost camera” in need of a home. Brief instructions on the outside of the case will describe the project and lead the “finder” to open the case. Inside the case are specific instructions on how to use the camera, how to participate, and why this project exists. The instructions also explain how to contact the North Shore Film Festival to become a member of the Lost Camera Program.
